St Govan's Holy Well

medieval chapel now stands and Christian pilgrims came here in search of healing / the
other lower down became a holy well . The Holy Well or Sacred Well is a rectangular stone
lined well chamber with a plain masonry hood / The well was used for curing bad sight ,
lameness and rheumatism. The local red clay was mixed with the water of the well and
applied . It was customary to apply water with a limpet shell.
