Raised Beach - 5 - Poppit Sands

Pebbles and cobbles form a Raised Beach , resting on a rock platform ,at the back of
the beach near the Western end of Poppit Sands , close to the Old Lifeboat Station at Cei - Bach.
One of a number of Raised Beaches around the Pembrokeshire Coast .
About 130,000 to 125,000 years ago - the Ipswichian Interglacial Period - rising sea levels
caused by melting of Ice sheets created new wave cut platforms with beach deposits.
These deposits are now 3metres above present high water.
