A monument on the north wall of the St Nicholas Chapel with a figure of Margaret Mercer ,
who died during childbirth in 1610 aged 30, reposing uncomfortably upon her side

In panels beneath appear the 7 sons and daughters who survived her ,
arranged in symmetrical gradation.

Above is the kneeling figure wearing armour of her husband
Thomas ap Rees of Scotsborough ( ap is welsh for son ).

The Ap Rees Coat of arms are on the left , with 8 quarterings.
The Mercer arms are on the right.

The Shield at the top of the monument combines both coats of arms .

Restored and coloured in 1961.
