Fossils (Trace) - Beaconite
Fossils (Trace) - Beaconite

Trace Fossils are the trails , footprints , burrows , etc, which ancient animals
have made in sediment and been preserved in rocks.
Circular patches ( 10cm. ) are visible in the cliffs at the back of Presipe Bay.
Trace Fossils of the Beaconite antarcticus organism.
These are infilled Burrows of ancient animals ( worms ?, amphibians ? ), thought
to have been burrowing in sediments , where a moist environment was provided .
Some burrows stand proud , as the Sandstone is eroding faster than the sediment infill .
