Fishguard Harbour opened in 1906 / Cunard Transatlantic Liners berthed here 1909/14 .
Now with a train station and Ferry to Ireland ( Rosslare ) .
From Fishguard harbour / along Goodwick Parrog / passing the east breakwater .
Goodwick Moor Nature Reserve / over the main road is home to Sedge , Reed , Willow , Grasshopper Warblers and Water Rail , Snipe over winter here. A Boardwalk trail through the Moor can accessed , from a FP , off the A40 near the Seaview hotel .
Join the coast path and follow the "Marine Walk" around Penyraber passing Saddle Point . Then views over Lower Fishguard Harbour , a pleasant , picturesque , tidal harbour .
Follow the path passed Lime Kilns down to the harbour , over the road bridge on the (A487).
The Harbour can be entered / a pleasant tidal harbour at the mouth of the Gwaun river in Pembrokeshires finest glacial channel .
The steep sided valley was carved out by meltwater flowing beneath the icesheet at the end of the last Ice Age.
Very picturesque with its small boats and stone cottages .
The Villages along the Cwm Gwaun celebrate the Pre - Gregorian Calenders New Year on January 13th !
Take the footpath up the main road out of Fishguard to Castle Point and the dissused fort ( 1781 ) / originally having 8 - nine pound guns .
A varied coastline awaits , with jagged stacks , secluded coves , beaches , steep cliffs .
Rocks are Ordovician Shales with Ordovician igneous outcrops at Carn Fran , Gelli and Bica .
Aproaching a white building on top the cliffs ahead , look back for a view of Needle Stack with a slot through the base / Numerous Seabirds , Razorbills / Guillemots /.. Nest
on the Rock and cliffs nearby .
The white building is a 1st World War lookout Tower at Penrhyn Ychen / now part of a caravan park , through which the path wanders.
The path passes 2 more headlands / meanders down to the beach at Aber Bach then up and along the coast with views to Dinas Island .
Along to Pwllgwaelod , below Dinas Island , with an attractive beach / car park / refreshments ( not on mondays ).
