4.2 - ABEREIDDY - ABER DRAW

Distance 3.5 miles

Abereiddy bay has a black sandy beach , fossils are rare , but have been found in the shales and slate on the beach - " tuning fork " graptolites.
The old quarry workings - slate was extracted here - have flooded and formed "The Blue Lagoon" .

The Stone Tower on the headland , Trwyncastell , - a Navigation marker ? / 18 Century Lighthouse ?.
The coast between Abereiddy and Porthgain is owned by the National Trust . Path reaches Traeth LLyfn / impressive cliffs / good beach at low tide / reached by a metal staircase / and an islet Cerrig Gwylan just offshore ,

After more bays and headlands / path passes through dissused quarries / a navigation marker - painted white / and down to Porthgain . Past gigantic storage hoppers , that used to hold crushed and graded , Diorite , a hard igneous Granite .
Around the attractive harbour , passed a public house - "The Sloop Inn " / and then climbing up to the other Navigation Marker .

Path continues / passed Ynys - Fach stack , just offshore / passing a modern stone circle , and on to Aber Draw ( Aberfelin ) beach / a short walk from Trefin , just up the road .
