3.10 - ST JUSTINIAN`S - WHITESANDS

A distance of about 2.5 miles.
---------------------------------
St Justinian`s bay ( Porthstinian ) is used by boats visiting Ramsey Island ( RSPB Reserve ).
Try THOUSANDISLANDS.CO.UK

The path passes the lifeboat station , and an area of cliff subject to erosion .
The traditional Pembrokeshire stone / earth banks are full of wild flowers in early summer .
Manx Shearwaters may be seen flying passed the west side of Ramsey Island in the evening and early morning ,
Passing Point St John , and on to Porthselau beach , a popular sandy beach for the nearby campsite . From which , it may just be possible to walk , at a very low tide , to Whitesands beach .

The path makes its way to the southern end of Whitesands beach with views of "Carn Llidi" behind , a rocky outcrop of hard igneous rock - Gabbro ( dark rock / coarse grain / crystallized magma ).
A 6th century sailors chapel , near Whitesands car park , has disappeared in the extensive sand dune system !
A stone plaque near the coast path indicates the location of the Altar of St Patrick's Chapel.

A bronze age track (1500 BC ) from Whitesands via The Preseli Mountains to Salisbury Plain , was an ancient trade route for Irish Gold and Copper .

Whitesands is one of Pembrokeshires finest sandy beaches / a popular spot for Surfers .

Car Park - St Justinian`s , Whitesands .

Bus - Summer service - "Celtic Coaster" from St David's to St Justinian's , Whitesands .
