3.4 - MARTIN'S HAVEN - ST BRIDES HAVEN

A distance of about 4 miles.
---------------------------------
Martin's haven is the departure point for boats landing on Skomer , Skokholm , and to visit Grassholm .

Check Website www.dale-sailing.co.uk

From the Haven the path passes 3 bays ( Rift Valleys ), separated by square Headlands .

Further on is Musselwick Sands , with a nice beach ( at low tides ) and sheer cliffs of dark coloured slate . The approach to the beach is over smoothly rounded black rocks and passes Black Cliff to the right . Can be visited via a Footpath from the Martin's Haven - Marloes Road . Nearby a number of picnic tables , to view St Brides Bay from / possible sightings of gannets.

A rugged coast is then followed with Tower Point in the distance . The stone wall of the St Brides Estate is reached first .
St Brides Mansion is nearby / the former residence of the Edwardes Family / who gained by marriage the Barony of Kensington and 250 acres of London in 1776 . The clock tower in Marloes was erected in 1904 to the memory of the 4th Baron , Lord Kensignton of St Brides Mansion .

Just passed Tower Point with an Iron Age Promontory Fort , is The Nab Head / the site of a Mesolithic chipping floor where 10,000 yrs ago tools and weapons were worked from flint nodules washed ashore / a blow hole is nearby .
The St Brides estate wall is followed , with the Victorian Castle (mansion) , on the right , to St Brides Bay.

Car Park - Martin's Haven (NT) , St Brides Haven.
