1.4 - FRESHWATER EAST - STACKPOLE QUAY

Distance about 3 miles .
----------------------------
Freshwater East has a Fine Beach / Sand dunes .

As at Manorbier, Fossils can be found in the pebbles on the beach.

The path climbs away from the beach to Trewent Point , with views in all directions .

The path to Greenala is strenuous as it follows an undulating landscape , the route climbs in and out of a number of valleys.

The path cuts across a bank / rampart of Greenala fort . One of many coastal promontory forts / occupied for hundreds years / during the Iron Age (500BC - 100AD ).
Then Fine coastal walking , to Stackpole Quay , built in the 18C , in an old limestone quarry , to export limestone . The ubiquitous limekiln is nearby.

The Cliffs change colour from the Red Sandstones to the Grey Carboniferous Limestones , just before Stackpole Quay.

Car Parks - Freshwater East , Stackpole Quay (NT).

Bus - "Coastal Cruiser" , visits most car parks , as far as West Angle (see links page).
