1.3 - SKRINKLE HAVEN - FRESHWATER EAST
A distance of about 6 miles .

From Skrinkle Haven ( The striking Youth Hostel is a former MOD facility ) , the path skirts round the perimeter of the Military site , "Air Defence Range Manorbier ", bypassing Old Castle Head and dropping down to the coast path above Presipe bay .
The beach at Presipe can be reached by a step flight of steps (160+) , to a secluded sandy beach ( on a low tide ) with vertical Red Sandstone rock strata , rocks and stacks on the beach .
From Presipe the path passes Sea Stacks in a small cove - Coomb - and then drops close to the shoreline , following a rough coast of eroding Vertical Red Sandstone rock strata .
As Manorbier nears, a Danger Sign indicates a short path uphill - to a long narrow fissure in the hillside , 120ft deep , the result of a collapsed sea cave .
The path passes a neolithic Burial Chamber , "King's Quoit" - 3,000 BC / capped with a 15 x 9 ft stone / to the east of Manorbier Bay .
Ther are a number of deep narrow fissures in the vertical strata nearby ( Geos - Zawns ) , the bands of Volcanic Ash (Tuff) have eroded at a faster rate than the surrounding rocks.
Good views over Manorbier Bay and views to Manorbier Castle which is close to the coast and open April - Sept .
Fossils - Crinoids , Corals - have been found in pebbles in the stream across the beach.
Manorbier has a good beach / a surfing spot .
Extensive rock pools can be found , west of the sandy beach at Manorbier Bay.
The path climbs up East Moor Cliff with another deep fissure ( long cave ) , Geo - Zawn / on OS maps / visible from west moor cliff .
Then on to Swanlake Bay / with sand , pebble beach / a secluded location .
Climbing up West Moor Cliff and on to Freshwater East with a fine sandy beach / sand dunes .
