1.2 - TENBY SOUTH - SKRINKLE HAVEN
A distance of about 6 miles .

Walk around the harbour and Castle Head - with a monument to Prince Albert (1865) and the remains of Tenby Castle (12C ) .
Passing Tenbys 2 Lifeboat Stations , one disused - Victorian 1897 .
Off shore is St Catherine's Island ( Ynys Catrin ) / ruins of a chapel removed and replaced with the present fortification / 1868-75 / a Palmerston folly / for Milford Havens Defence . Island sold in 1907 for £500 .
Then down to Tenby South Beach / a long stretch of beach with sand dunes ( The Burrows ).
At the end of the beach the path climbs up to pass Giltar Point , close to Caldey Island / St Margaret's Island .
Caldey Island is a 20 min boat ride from Tenby / Easter - End October / Closed on Sundays .
The adjoining Island of St Margaret's is a Nature Reserve / with a Large Cormorant Colony and Guillemots , Razorbills / landing is not allowed .
Passed Giltar Point , if red flags are flying ( when the Armed Forces " Penally Rifle Range " is in use ) , a short diversion may apply / around a strip of coast ( about 1/2 mile ) / between Giltar Point and Valley field top . Manned sentry posts stop access when the path is closed .
Lundy Island may be visible 40 miles away .
Blowholes and a lime kiln are passed before Proud Giltar is reached.
Passing Proud Giltar and another blowhole , then down to Lydstep Haven Beach / with an extensive residential development / good view to Caldey Island . Fossils ( mainly Corals ) can be found in the pebbles on the beach.
Around Lydstep Headland ( a popular area for climbers ) / path drops down into a gorge with access to Lydstep Caverns Beach ( explore beach / caves on a very low tide ) ,
Famed since Victorian times for the "Wonders of Lydstep Bay" - Caverns called the Cave of Beauty, the Tower cave, the Drot , and the Smugglers Cave.
Fossils - mainly corals can be found here .
Then Skrinkle Haven with - Church Doors Beach / down a steep metal staircase (130+ steps) , to the pepple beach / fossils in the boulders / a large Limestone arch here.
Skrinkle Haven has a nice sandy beach which can be reached with great difficulty , at low tide from Church Doors Beach , through a tunnel in the "Church Doors" , one of the two ribs of Limestone that project into this Bay.
Red sandstone appears here / replacing the limestone .
Car Park - Tenby South , Penally ( nr Railway Station) , Lydstep Haven Beach ( Speed Bumps on the road to the beach ) , Lydstep Headland (NT) - ( at the end of a poor road , nr lydstep tavern ) , Manorbier ( Skrinkle Haven , nr Youth Hostel ).
