1 - AMROTH to WEST ANGLE
A distance of about 40+ miles.

The Pembrokeshire Coastal Path passes through some of the best Limestone scenery in the British Isles.
Marine erosion having produced a finely eroded coast with arches , stacks , caves .
One of the finest in Britain .
Military Activity at Skrinkle Haven ( Manorbier ) and between Stack Rocks / Freshwater West leads to permanent diversions from the coast path .
Also the path between Broad Haven South / St Govans / Stack Rocks and sometimes at Giltar Head ( Penally) are other areas with restrictions to access , because of military activity .
Sentry posts are manned when the path is closed.
The Coast Path through Tenby is not signed / follow the roads , paths around the harbour and past the life boat stations / at low tides the beaches can be walked .
Excellent Beaches - Amroth , Saundersfoot , Tenby , Barafundle , Freshwater East , Broad Haven (SOUTH) , Freshwater West .

Basic COAST GEOLOGY :-
Tectonic Plate activity , 290 million years ago (MYA), the Variscan mountain building episode (Orogeny ) , at the end of the Carboniferous Period - mainly created the folding and faulting in the rock strata , visible around the coast of South Pembrokeshire.

Coal Measures - CARBONIFEROUS PERIOD - 290 / 360 MYA, are encountered initially - Amroth / Saundersfoot , coal was mined until 1940 .
Millstone Grit - CARBONIFEROUS PERIOD , Saundersfoot / Tenby .
The Grey Limestone - CARBONIFEROUS PERIOD , extends from Giltar Head to just passed Lydstep Headlands and even more impressively from Stackpole Quay to near Freshwater West .
The Older Red Sandstone - which can be in other colours than red - e.g purple / green / brown - DEVONIAN PERIOD , 360 / 420 MYA - is in between .
