6.8 - Wildlife

Some of the Birding highlights of Pembrokeshire are -

PUFFINS on Skomer Island ( 12,000 + , late March - early August ) with Kittiwakes , Guillemots , Razorbills.

GUILLEMOTS on Stack Rocks ( 1000's + , May - mid July ) , along with Razorbills.

GANNETS on Grassholm Island ( 80,000 + , Feb - Oct ) , view from a Boat .

CHOUGHS , ( 70 + breeding pairs ) , all year along the Coast.

MANX SHEARWATER ( 300,000 + , May - Sept) , flying passed the Headlands in the morning / evening.

STARLINGS ( 1 million + , Nov - March ) , a huge roost near Plumstone Mountain .

During the Spring and Autumn migrations the coastal areas can sometimes experience spectacular passages of birds .
With birds blown off course there is always the chance of the unexpected amongst the lost and wayward .
