Common Lizard

"Lacerta Vivipara"or "Zootoca Vivipara "/ Is one of three species of wild lizard found in the UK / the others are the endangered sand lizard and the slow-worm / hibernates from October to March / typical adult size is 15cm (nose to tail) / diet is made up of various insects , spiders, small earthworms and snails / viviparous - has live young (they incubate the eggs inside themselves rather than laying them) / life span is around five to six years / If attacked by a predator, a lizard will often run away, leaving its wriggling tail behind!
