Chapel Bay Fort - RML Gun

Fort - 1870 ?/ Battery -1891 / The first fort in the UK to be built of mass concrete / with 3 - 10inch RML ( Rifled Muzzle Loading ) Guns / replaced in 1900 by three six-inch Breech Loading (BL) Guns / accomodation for 91 men / extensive changes to site and armaments over the life of the site / The open battery spreads east of the Fort , now overgrown , remodelled for heavy guns 1901 / disarmed in 1920
